RESTORATION

Psalm 23 lets us know that God wants to RESTORE us.   Restoreth means to turn about, to return.  It reminds me of a piece of furniture that has become severely worn, rickety, raggedy.  It has lost it's value.  A person skilled at restoration will be able to take that piece of furniture and restore it, to return it to it's original condition.

Our souls become worn, sin destroys our finish, makes us virtually worthless.  Jesus can restore us.  In Psalm 23 David realizes God's restorative work in his soul.  He is renewed.  WE can be too.  God is in the business of restoring souls.

Psa 23: [[A Psalm of David.]] The LORD [is] my shepherd; I shall not want.

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou [art] with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
