HE MAKETH ME LIE DOWN
lying DOWN is a good position to be in.  It indicates a time of rest.  We are off of our feet.  We are no longer supporting our weight, as we let the surface we are lying on support us.  In Psalm 23, the surface we are lying down on is in a green pasture.  For a sheep, a green pasture is a food source.  This same green pasture can become cut hay that we can lie down on and make a bed of hay.
In fact, a study of Psalm 23, verse 2 reveals that this lying down is referring to the way quadrupeds lie down.  Quadrupeds are animals that have four feet, and when they lie down, they do so by lying on their breast, or stomach, never on their back, with their feet gathered under them.  Because the Lord is our shepherd, we can feel at ease to lie down, without fear of evil, knowing the Lord is looking out for us.  We can rest.  We have peace. God insists that we get proper rest, therefore "He maketh me to lie down".  Everyone, make sure you are getting your proper rest. Pray for God to give you proper rest.
I will talk more about Psalm 23 tomorrow.

Psa 23: [[A Psalm of David.]] The LORD [is] my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou [art] with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
