WHERE IS YOUR TREASURE?

WHERE IS YOUR TREASURE?

Matthew 6:19-21

Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:

But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also

The above three verses generated the following questions in my mind, which I recorded as they popped into my head, so please forgive the random nature of the rambling below:

Treasures in Heaven.  Treasures on Earth.  Where is your treasure?  Where is your heart?

Are you laying up treasure in Heaven?  Are you laying up treasure on Earth?

Rust corrodes metal.  Moths eat up cloths.  Rust cannot hurt treasures in heaven.  Rust corrodes and destroys treasures on Earth.  Moths cannot hurt treasures in heaven.  Moths eats up treasures on Earth.

How do you lay up treasures on Earth?  How do you lay up treasures in heaven?  Can you lay up treasures in both places?  That is, can you lay up some treasures on earth while at the same time lay up some treasures in heaven?  Why does the scripture say, speaking through Jesus Christ, lay not up treasures on earth?  Why does the scripture say, speaking through  Jesus Christ lay up treasures in heaven?  Can you name some earthly treasures?  Can you name some heavenly treasures?  How much treasure can you lay up on earth?  How much treasure can you lay up in heaven?  Where is heaven?  Where is earth?  How do you get to heaven?  Are you going to heaven?  How much treasure do you think that you have in heaven?  How much treasure do you have on earth?  Will you ever have to say goodbye to earthly treasures?  Will you ever have to say good bye to heavenly treasures?  How much treasure do you want to have in heaven?  How much treasure do you want to have on earth?  Will it please God if you have no treasure in heaven?  Will it please God if you have no treasure on earth?  Will it please God if you have treasure in heaven?  Will it please God if you have treasure on earth?  Will it please God if you have some treasure on earth, and, at the same time, some treasure in heaven?  How much treasure do you want to have in heaven?  How much treasure do you want to have on earth?

What are our treasures in heaven?  In my humble opinion the following three things:
1.  Our Christian character.  We develop Christian  characteristics, by turning our life over to Jesus.  That is how we become Godly.
2.  Lead souls to Christ, investing in the lives of other people.  How many people will be in heaven because of your influence?
3.  The money you spend on Christian work, or to help people in some way, either physically, or spiritually.

I learned about the above (treasures in heaven), partly from past study and experience, but also, today I listened to an audio stream of a commentary on Matthew 6: 19-21 from the following web site:

Lord, BLESS ME, so that I live wisely.  I want to store up treasures in Heaven, so that when I get there, you can say to me, "well done, good and faithful servant".  Help me, Lord.  In Jesus Name, Amen.
