SEE NO EVIL, HEAR NO EVIL, SPEAK NO EVIL

In Buddhist tradition, the tenets of the proverb are about not
dwelling on evil thoughts.[3]

In the Western world both the proverb and the image are often used
to refer to a lack of moral responsibility on the part of people who refuse to
acknowledge impropriety, looking the other way or feigning ignorance.[3][12]

It may also signify a code of silence in gangs, or organized crime.[3]

IN MANY COMMUNITIES there is a code of
silence. People do not want to get
involved, and they look upon reporting known criminals as being a snitch. These people see no evil, hear no evil, and
will speak no evil. They refuse to
report known criminals in the community.
Is it no wonder then that many communities are crime ridden, crime
infested, drug and gang havens? When
will we wake up and realize that our children are being forced to endure a new
slavery - they are forced to live in sub human conditions of fear, crime,
poverty, abuse, and pain. These
subjugations are put upon our children by the adults who are supposed to be providing
them with a safe environment. Many
adults will say, well, I don't commit crime, I work full time, pay my taxes,
and try to get along with everyone. I
try to raise my kids right. All of this
may be true, but when we turn the "blind eye" and look the other way
when we know what is going down in our neighborhoods, are we not helping to
create and perpetuate the mess our communities have become? The question is, is there more that we can
do?
