OUR KIDS ARE CONFUSED
OUR KIDS ARE CONFUSED.
We have gotten to a point in society where we have utterly confused our
kids. We tell them to do right, then all
around them they see people doing wrong.
We tell them to be honest, yet they see their parents lie, cheat, and
sometimes even steal, with no compunction.
They see the definition of marriage changing right before their
eyes. At school they are told that
people evolved from apes over millions of years, yet at church they are told
that God created man, and the universe in six days. We tell them we value life, yet we believe
abortion is OK. We tell them how hard we
had it, yet we make it as easy as possible for them, making the hardships we
endured sound like fairy tales. We
express outrage over the killing of Trayvon Martin, but do nothing and seem
unconcerned about the many deaths occurring in our own communities all the
time. We say we love God, but are
apathetic about church attendance, church giving, and church work.
We say we want our kids to have a good education, but we
don't insist that they study, we don't really support our schools, and we don't
model for them the habits of reading and studying our Bibles and watching
educational TV.
In short, we talk a
good game, but our kids see through it and it confuses them. They want to be like us, and if we are messed
up, guess how they will be.
