Life is full of
contradictions. At first, a hot snowflake appears to be a contradiction.
Yet, the truth is that snowflakes, when heated, melt and turn to water.
Therefore, a hot snowflake is simply water. When it gets hot
enough, the former snowflake evaporates, and returns to the clouds.
It is extremely rare, nearly impossible, for two snowflakes to be exactly alike, just as no two persons are exactly alike.
Because all of us
are unique, God made, we each having something unique, special, to offer to the
Lord God who made us, and to each other. As beautiful as an individual
snowflake crystal may be, it must be heated to become life giving water.
It must be transformed from a solid to a liquid. It must change. Many
people are satisfied being a snowflake.
Their lives are beautiful, like a snowflake. Many things are fine. The have money, jobs, children, homes, good
lives. But it is only when they give
their lives to God that they can be of use to Him. And when we give our lives to God He gives us
life, His life, the life of His son Jesus Christ. We may look the same on the outside, like that snowflake, but we are changed by the heat of this new life on the inside
and the heat causes the coldness, the sadness, the barrenness of the snowflake
to evaporate. We become a hot snowflake,
still the same person on the outside, but completely changed on the
inside. And God will even change us on
the outside, transform our physical
bodies, if we need to get in better shape. All of us must change if we are
to be of use to God. God wants hot snowflakes.
In the Bible,
Revelations 3:
REVELATIONS 3:15
I know thy works,
that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.
REVELATIONS 3:16
So then because
thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
God constantly
examines our works to see if they are hot, cold, or, worse, lukewarm. Our works are our actions. Our actions are our heat. Either they are hot, cold, or worse,
lukewarm. Heat is energy. There is energy in coldness as well as
heat. A snowflake, cold on the ground
will melt when exposed to lukewarm heat. Melted snow forms a puddle, a mess. that is what we are like when we are lukewarm. It is only when the snow is exposed to a lot of heat that it changes from snow to vapor, and evaporates. The snow must get hot. So it is with our works. If they are cold it is apparent. A snowflake can be seen. And in the hustle and bustle of life, it quickly gets dirty. Slow lukewarm melting turns the once beautiful snow into dirty slushy water. That is what happens to each of us if we linger in lukewarmness. We become filthy, and God, rather than swallowing us, that is, using us for His glory, will spit the dirty warm water out of His mouth. But when hotness hits the snowflake it
disappears, evaporates, and ascends up into the clouds, to the heavens, purified and fit to be used, swallowed up, in God's plans.
Are you on fire for God, burning with the desire
to be close to Him, to love Him? A
snowflake knows when it has melted and gotten hot, and evaporated up into the
clouds to meet God. I want to always be
a hot snowflake. When I get cold and
hard, may the heat of prayer and the burning Word of God beam on me, as I walk
in the Light of God's Love. Our God is a
consuming fire.
My Prayer:
Like a
snowflake, oh God, transform me into what you want me to me, by the powerful
heat of your Holy Spirit. Make me a hot
snowflake. In Jesus Name, Amen.
